Hi everybody, while I was developing Zombie Near I've made a list of keyboards type per MSX BIOS 002CH bits 0-3, I've found 7 of 8, the only mysterious remaining number is 5.

Someone has a MSX BIOS that reports keyboard type 5?

Thanks in advance.

Could you please post th keyboard list here, so the nice folks of the MSX Assembly Page can update their page?

I have a machine with a Russian keyboard layout and it has 0x11 there, so that won't help.

MSX Technical Databook only says:
0: Japanese
1: International
2: French
3: UK
4: DIN
And the MSX2 Technical Databook clarifies and adds:
0: Japan
1: United States, etc.
2: France
3: United Kingdom
4: Germany
5: USSR
6: Spain

Does someone know more? These are 7...

Shouldn't there be a code for Korean as well?

Probably. But, the Daewoo CPC-300 and CPC-400S just has 0x00 on 0x2C...

I have a machine with a Russian keyboard layout and it has 0x11 there, so that won't help.

Exactly what MAP article about keyboard layouts says:

As you can see on the picture of the Russian keyboard below, the key layout isn’t at all like QWERTY, but still that particular MSX’s BIOS indicates the layout as ‘1’ (international). Grmbl, they should have defined a 5th (Russian JCUKEN) layout! Or at least an ‘Other’ setting, instead of putting it under International.

Yeah, so they did define it (from MSX2 onwards, apparently), but it was never used in practice. Note that "Spain" does seem to be used, as on a Sony HB-20P 0x2C reads 0x26.

Thanks a lot for the info, would be great if someone could provide an actual BIOS to confirm the usage of the number 5.
By the way, now my list is complete! Smile (maybe the maintainer of MSX Assemply Page can now update his list?)
0 = Japanese
1 = International
2 = French (AZERTY)
3 = U.K.
4 = German (DIN)
5 = U.R.S.S.
6 = Spanish
7 = Swedish

As I wrote before, I don't know any Russian BIOS that actually has 5 there. They all have 1.

Any Russian MSX users who did find one?
