/me wants to buy it too!!!

3.5 MHz is enough for EVA movie replay. SLotman, I hope you took notice of the fact EVA movies can be played on ATA-IDE as well as on MEGA-SCSI? (I.e. you've included both versions of the EVA player?)

Big smile VERY NICE WORK!!!

Oh, that makes the minimum system requirement a MSX2+! EVA == movies @ 10/12FPS w/ 19268 colours @ screen12!

So I don't think you're entirely correct on the system specs, SLotman... Smile

Nevertheless, don't worry, I've an A1ST Big smile

AFAIK there's an EVA player for SCREEN 8 as well...

No, you can play EVAs at screen8 bij adding a /8 to the command line. But that means the color encoding will be in RGB format while the EVA encoding is in YJK, so you have to compensate for that. Make special EVA movies etc.

It needs to be converted? I think it does the conversion on the fly, doesnt it?
(That's why I put the minimum being MSX2)... if it's not, I'll have to make it for MSX2+ indeed, or create some detection and provide 2 versions of each video... arg!

When using the /8 switch it always looks pretty good... for SCREEN 8 measures Wink

LOL!

SLotman, it seems you've never tried it. No biggy, but it's simply not worth looking at EVAs in screen 8, I'm afraid... Maybe you should try to make a codec (or let someone do it for you) which converts the YJK stream to a RGB stream. The problem is then solved. One problem remains: you've only got 256 colors at your disposal. I think you should require MSX2+ at least. As said, 3.5MHz will do great, the video doesn't even have a choppy performance (maybe the game has, but I haven't seen the game yet Wink)

Hmmm... I doubt you can convert YJK -> RGB in real time on a 3.58MHz MSX tho... Well, at least not while reading the Video and Audio Data from CD-ROM, playing the samples and outputting the Video to the VDP...

I never tried it on a MSX2, just because I don't have one with mapper/IDE... I only tried on my A1ST Smile

Then again, the commandline of EVA is confusing, it says "/8 to FORCE screen8", so I assumed it could convert automatically to scr8, no matter how the video was generated...

Converting to RGB is not the solution, since to get scr12 graphics on MSX2+ (not fair to TR and MSX2+ owners to lock video at scr8 on their machines!) I would have to convert the data anyway...

The best solution would be to generate both video versions, and change all the program to call the necessary files...

but since I have now 9 copies already burnt, those will be MSX2+ then... maybe the next batch will be msx2 compatible Smile
