Hi there
Just discovered the site - nice.
It's for the nostalgia trip - emulation is good - but I would like to re-live the real thing.
Thanks

Well, ideally you'd want one in the UK idd, but there's a cheap VG 8235 with a doublesided drive on ebay.nl for 27,50 euros (around 20 pounds). Add another 17,50 euros for priority airmail and you've got youself an MSX2 for 30 quid

Possible problem with non UK purchase is payment method - as I would normally pay for stuff with UK sterling cheque - as it's the only method I have available - hence the hope for someone in the UK to be selling one.
Well, if you like the computer you could send the seller and e-mail asking if he would accept a bank transfer. Any bank does transfers to foreign-currency accounts. Problem solved At least that way you'll be playing games on your MSX before christmas
UKDecay, do you have a Debit card? Switch or Delta? you can set up a paypal account!
Where in the UK are you? I am in the East Midlands, I am the pround owner of the UK's only Panasonic TurboR GT computer, a beautiful machine
Thanks for the info Sonic/DJH - Just checked with a mate - he has an eBay/Paypal account - so I'm gonna go down to his place one evening and see what's available on eBay - and place a few bids.
DJH - I'm from the North-West - Don't know alot about the TurboR - without reading - I guess it's MSX 3?
Sort of, yes. In chronological order there's the MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and MSX turboR. Assuming you know what MSX2 is, MSX2+ has the ability of displaying more colors (19268) and turboR has that too, including a faster processor (7MHz R800, about equivalent to a 28MHz Z80). Furthermore the turboR has a minimum of 256kB main RAM, and it's just a wonderful machine! I myself have an A1ST here (the smaller sister of the A1GT, and it's such a wonderful MSX... )
You could've just said it's an MSX2 on steroids

If you're quick, you can still catch that VG 8235 for € 27,50! (£ 20) The auction ends in a little more than 5 hours, so you'll have to be quick... (Mind you, you can just bid today and ask/goto your friend next week to do the actual payment.
Was'nt quick enough - been at work all day today - just have to wait for another one to appear - Also thanks for the heads up on the TurboR guys - would'nt mind one of those beauties - but I guess they're pretty hard to come by.
