Any info on this?
I just bought this, I think, Italian cassette version of Yie Ar Kung Fu. The back of the box does not have any images, just loading instructions so I'm not sure if this is Konami's game or some other.
There is also lot other games in this same MSA series. Couldn't find this from Generation MSX either..
I wonder if this was legal... Is the word Konami mentioned anywhere?
I'm with Manuel, the picture of Bruce Lee is also suspicious... I doubt they had the rights.
Konami only released cartridges and lately (almost at the end) floppy disk version of their games/few apps.
MSX K-7 games were super popular here on Brasil back there, since everybody could read/play them. Of course, over 95% of them begin illegal, not a surprise.
The only thing they released as K-7 (AFAIK) was music.
Konami always loved to make custom ICs since start, so it would be difficult/hard to pir8. This is why they made A LOT money on those days.
Yes, I'm also sure that these are unlicensed releases. There is no Mention of Konami on the box. I'm just wondering does anyone have more information of these releases? And since I don't have MSX at the moment I can't test the game if it's Konami's or some other. Just bought this out of curiosity.
There is also other games from the same line. It seems from the numbers that there has been even more. Anyone seen these before? I must say that I just love the cover art on these ones! Blagger I think is not from the same series but looks interesting though.
Maybe it's this Kuma game :
Great, but there is nothing known about this game (except for this front cover)... (to my knowledge).
You can buy it here :
I have seen that same Yie-Ar Kung-Fu cassette some years ago on ebay... or at least it had same cover picture.
I have italian compilation cassette somewhere, which was bundled with magazine and both were stuffed into transparent box. Magazine told about new games, gave programming tips and of course told about those games on the cassette. One side had six MSX games and other side had six Commodore 16 games. And every game had altered name. Like french nice game "Pyroman" was changed to "Fireman".
I also do like a lot of those cover art pictures shown here. I wonder if they are taken from other games or science fiction books.... their style looks familiar to me.... rouhija, could you show them on the other sites too, maybe someone knows where those pictures are taken from? It feels a bit silly if they are really drawn for these cassettes... I don´t think so.
