Again, I was just putting the price of the OCM in perspective. In my point of view, 189 euro isn't expensive. MSXers tend to pay similar prices for hardware, hence the Moonsound (I myself just bought one only some weeks ago). That's the only reason I mentioned Sunrise. I have very much respect for Sunrise. I don't think their products are overpriced. They come in very small batches, it's obviously a niche market.

And about #msxdev. Yes, it's a great IRC channel to ask all your questions about developing. People like BiFi and Guyver are very helpful and you can learn a lot from them!

Well to be honest 189,- is allot.... and we are talking abouth a MSX-1 MACHINE......
its wrong to compair it to a OPL4(moonsound).......
i bought my moonsound for about 389,- guilders...... because it was worth it...... just like a v9990,or compactflash ata IDE ,or OBSONET...... (because it ads more possibilities for your MSX)............
the only nice thing about 1chMSX its so cute and small (but it ads notting new to your MSX setup) .......
by example if i want a MSX1 like machine i would buy a MSX1 for 10 euro's Smile (but ofcourse i dont need another MSX i got a sanyo WAVY fd2 2+ ,Turbo R GT,nms 8250)

i guess only a DIE HARD msxér is gonna buy a 1chMSX.............

You know some people might interpret the nice compliments as "so as long as we code it's ok, but we're not allowed to voice our opinions".

then others would reply with "but we leave this topic open"

on which there would be a reply like "yes, but it's already steered into a different direction again - nice way of controlling the forums"

No, I'm not saying who's right or wrong - I don't think there are absolute rights or wrongs. I'm not reading minds either - just remembering how the crossover discussions between mrc and msxposse went last time ^^

Listen if that 1 chip won't come, then you can wonder if that negative approach has helped ruining it !
INstead of supporting, it gets burned down...good way to start a revival

That's exactly what Bazix is doing with the Sunrise enhanced version of the Game Reader (with MoonSound and GFX9000 support) : Bazix is burning it down.

And about the OCM chip : the 5000 pre-orders won't be reached, because most MSX fans are interested by a real progression by comparison with the Turbo-R. The good option was a Turbo-R OCM with support for SCC, MSX-AUDIO, MoonSound, GFX9000, Internet, CD-ROM, CD-AUDIO, CD-VIDEO and more ... Bazix has choosen the bad option : a MSX1 OCM without tape support ... There's no comparison between both options, and an intelligent fan won't pre-order a return to the first MSX generation .... we want the 5th MSX generation Smile

@Poisonic: probably the thing that makes the OCM the most interesting, is the fact that if one who masters VHDL code, can add his or her own features to the MSX (for example, create the legendary SCREEN 9 yourself Wink). If you are simply interested in buying an MSX, you should probably not buy the OCM indeed, as it surely is too expensive if seen as nothing more than an (to give in to BiFi) incomplete MSX1.

@Samor: you are right. Saying nasty things stirs the discussion up, saying nice things does so too Wink. But hey, if one decides to make a chatlog like this public, you can expect all sorts of reactions, can't you? And I know some people doubt sincerity of comments like this, but they are facts, aren't they? As much as Latok states MRC has proved to be this or that, BiFi and GuyveR have proved to be good coders Wink

Since when is Bazix a factory with a design-department? afaik they're only a representive for MSXa (or ASCII? dunno) so that we don't have to learn Japanese to understand those things, and to have some sortof 'normal' distribution of the thing.
Rather contact ASCII about that..

ps. Let's level Bazix with the ground. Every thing related with the 1cm or legal matters will then come directly from MSXA instead.. in Japanese ... have fun ^_^
