Hi all,
I need to buy a new EPROM programmer, mainly for my MSX activities (tweaking BIOSes). I had a Shenzhen Stager G540 device, which was cheap and working, but the bundled software is pure crap. Anyway it died recently (after puttin a ROM in reverse position, the device is supposed to survive to that but it just did not !).

Please let me know if you guys have something not too expensive and working on modern PC (USB port & Windows 7) to recommend !

I own a TOP2011 programmer bought from eBay. It's cheap, dependable, fast, it's connected via USB and has a connector for an external power supply (needed only for very old power hungry EPROMs).

The software is not stelar, but it does its job. Curiously enough, I liked its older version more than the newer version, but the newer seems to support more devices.

Overall, I would recommend this device as it has an excellent cost-benefit ratio. There are newer programmers from the same maker, but I don't know how they perform.

I would recommend against the older TOP853 though, as it isn't supported anymore.

Thanks Snatcher & Eric, I'll give it a try. Price is a bit higher compared to the G540, but it looks better :-) !

I'm using a MiniPro TL866 EEPROM Programmer, works great for the money.
Also the software works good on my Win7 64bit machine Smile
I pay about 40 euro (inc shipping) for it.

I made already lots of eproms for my MSX2,C64,Spectrum Wink
