DIY FlashROM SCC

Hi all,

Just 2 quick questions about a diy circuit I found here: Making FlashRom 512k

1) Which ROM loaders (if any) support writing to an SCC cartridge modified this way? Description says:

But doesn't mention which software, or where to get it. Original site has some sort of "detect FlashRom type" utility, but that seems no use for writing.

2) Has anyone tried this with other Flash EPROMs than the one shown in the schematic? (AM29F040B from AMD). AM29F040 without the -B, other brands, other sizes?

I've done this a few months ago with a broken KV2 cart. You can use the opf tool from Manuel Pazos. OPF
This tool only works with AM29F040B (I think theoretically other flash would work too, but then you need to rewrite the flashtool).
In my case, I can only load 256kb and smaller roms. 512kb doesn't work... I don't know if this is due to faulty SCC chip, faulty flashchips, faulty wiring or faulty flashtool...
But I have a megaflashromsccsd too, so I can play Solid Snake on that (which is the only 512kb rom as far as I know).

It's a nice project to do, so if you have the parts and an old SCC cart, (please don't break one on purpose, then you'd better sell it and buy a megaflashromsccsd), go ahead :)

I found this article and created one of my own, but i can't get it to work.

I used F1 Spirit wich already had a switch, and a trace cut. I've removed the switch (to use later on this project) and restored the trace. Desoldered the rom and hooked everything up as descriped.

I've checked the connections multiple times, but with OPF i'm getting the message that the flashrom isn't found. I'm using the 128kb Contra rom.

Does anybody have a clue? Are there other tools to test if it's even working?
