Telnet StarWars is so cool. Remember that you also have the HispaMSX BBS.
Also, if it was to happen, I would be glad to host an HTML->DOX proxy, similar as some people did with the Uzix wild server.
It is nice to see how all evolved. It's a lot lot lot of job!
I only wish the GUI will look different. Instead of ugly Windows style, something new.
I do not agree with that! Maybe it is a matter of taste but i like the GUI a lot! Especialy with the 16 color support for icons and for the form objects!

Don't forget we have to be compatible with other z80 systems like the CPC and Enterprise.
that it needs be compatible with others platforms doesn't means it can't support some "Optional" extended video mode for the MSX platform, with its specific video driver and the needed changes in the API to support color inputs that don't fits in just a nibble, maybe with the use of an unused bit, to be able to input a bigger number to designate the color or to input and alternative colour number, so the APP must provide two, one based in 16 color, and other by if is running in a better screen mode.
@MsxKun: Yes, it's probably a question of the personal taste, which GUI looks better. What I liked about the original Windows XX gui is the way the window control buttons are placed, the startmenu/taskbar and the fact, that the pull-down-menus are in the windows and not in a global title bar (like Mac, Amiga). It's also quite simplified which is an advantage for usual Z80 platforms with all kind of screen resolutions and colour depth.
The G9K-based WiOS GUI as a 1:1 copy of the Acorn Archimedes RiscOS (former Arthur) GUI looks more impressive with its bitmap-skins, but also requires more resources and couldn't hardly be used for 2 and 4 colour screen modes.
@Flyguille: Graphics in SymbOS are 4 or 16 colour based. If an app is using 16 clours, SymbOS will render it down to 4/2 colours, if the actual screen mode is only 4 or 2 colours. SymbOS 2.1 is already fully supporting all 16 colour bitmap modes, and SymbOS 3.0 will have some additional enhancements here as well. Apps doen't need to provide both 4 and 16 colour graphics/definitions etc., as the screen drivers will render everything up and down.
I really love the SymbOS GUI, it looks awesome in the 16 color mode. I remember using AmigaOS 2.x and 3.x with half the colors SymbOS has (I always preferred AmigaOS 1.x style above later versions).

Well, It doesn't have much to do with more/less colors, icons or so.
For me, the GUI loos better if I turn screen 180º.

It totally is a matter of personal taste

Heh, what can I say... I use Windows Zune theme on my XFCE desktop. Black bar with orange buttons to the right. Added the button to roll up the window. But my taskbar is up and also black. I put an LCD clock replacing the regular one and instead of a START button I have a "Geek-OS" button with the logo of the HHGTTG. Yeh, don't Panic!
I use a dock and as I got tired of them long ago, my desktop is totally icon free. And, to don't get bored of seeing always that look, on another user, my bars are placed to the sides, just cause I can. Don't be surprised then if the first thing you see when booting is a Dalek with the EXTERMINATE! words under it
So you see my tastes.
Of course I don't expect that on a Z80 system. And functionallity comes first, so keep the good job.
But it's not a matter of colors. You can use same theme and colors having the bar up or down. I got totally tired of the bottom bar and, as dreaming is free, I just wish I could have (some day!), instead of a bottom START button, a Pentaro top button, for example, that's all
Thanks Prodatron !! Amazing !! My MSX did a network task for the first time with SymbOS!

Crazy !!

Wow wow wow is that available in the preview version?
It's a very in-between-version. Several parameters around network in general and DenYoNet are currently static, I have to add some setup possibilities first before I can release a preview. I am currently working on resurrecting SymTEL (looking forward to test HispaMSX BBS!
), which makes more intensive tests possible. It will probably take 2-3 weeks until something can be published, please be patient
