Hello. I got Franky cartridge but problem output is PAL. Is there way modify the board into using NTSC output? It fully functional but it not work really good, my monitor is not accept PAL.
Thank you GDX! It seemingly possible. I desoldered oscillator, soldered in the NTSC. Now to get NTSC sound output no issue, but needed second monitor to use for output? Cannot get correct video if using VGA (FRANKY(VGA)>OCM(VGA)>TV(Composite)...Little confusing. Hopefully working if using VGA monitor instead. Thanks.
You can alternate the sound output between Franky or your MSX, by adjusting the trimpot on the left side on the board.
Please, make sure that your board does not have this mod:
If so, your board has composite sync in the connector, instead of composite video (NTSC or PAL).
I only use 1 monitor. I connect MSX to Composite video (A/V) and Franky to RGB.
In my monitor, I can switch between RGB and A/V easily.
If oscilator location is empty, I think you can try this:
In the picture, you can see there are 3 pads to solder.
You only have to solder 2 of them: The one in the middle with one in the PAL side or the one in NTSC side, but do not joint the 3.
The resistor is to select between 50 Hertz or 60 Hertz.
