Those samples are generated using square waves in the original arcade, so the ay8910 can reproduce accurately the original sounds. Scc is better for voice reproduction.

Try version 05b in octave.

Or use the current version of the encoder and scale by two the resulting tone periods

I have listened to your posted series of converted sounds a few posts above (only for the AY-part, correct?).
Well now, how do you get your result sounding soo good on only one AY-chip?

Correct, only PSG (3 channels) is working here. In the related cases the WAV file was capturated from a good sound source (MAME or Bridge) and no pre-processed. Sometimes normalize volume should help but no other improvements for wavs means good quality in ISR samples.

Ths ISR samples method, when using for square waves, works fine with pure "one-freq/ISR" sounds. When a two or more "channels" sound simultaneously the quality is affected significantly. So the scope is limited but multichip, consirdering the conversion Register -> frecuencies (as Artrag noted).

Nice to know you are interested in ISR samples, which can open a wide rane of appplications still unknown.

Please, check this video with only 2 PSG channels.

The most important when playing the sample is to reproduce it sinchronized exactly 1/50,1/60,1/120 or whatever.
