Just did a 220v conversion for my TurboR. So far works fine (knocking on the wood). The transformer is barely warm after one hour. Big thanks to Erik for his tutorial!

The toughest part was to remove the original power cable and to get the new 220v compliant cable through the rubber holder. :)

Nice Work Alexey, the trafo works great i use my turbo-r with a 230v trafo for a year now and works great.

@ NEO, how are your "transformations" of the Turbo-r going ?

It works. Still waiting for my aluminium to arrive and then finish it. The only issue I had was that I was not able to drill a hole through the cable holder. When doing that it messed up the part with the open parts. The drill tore it apart. How did you manage to make a neat hole? I might also modify my other Turbo R so I have a second chance Smile

I manager to remove the old cable by cutting it close to the flat part and then carefully pulling it outside while pushing from the inside with a screw driver. Getting a new cable through the holder was difficult, but with some lubricant it worked. I also widened the hole a bit with a screw driver to help the cable getting through. Added some soap too.

Drilling rubber is not a very good idea. Especially with a high RPM drill.

I used a 3 and 4mm drill, by hand not with a machine.
What Alexey said, you can also use a screw driver to open up the holes.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I finished all my MSX's. Put the 220V transformer in:

- Turbo R ST, fully working though I had to remove the flexible part of the cable holder as I broke that (first try removing the original 100V cable and I broke it) but also without that flexible part of the holder the cable is tightly fixed and it looks fine.
- Turbo R GT, fully working including the cable holder is ok, tight fit Smile
- FS-A1WX, fully working including the cable holder is ok, tight fit Smile

Only thing is that the transformer still gets a bit hot, when I hold my finger on it for more then 10 seconds it gets uncomfortably hot to leave the finger on it. I have 8 carts though in the expander running but the expanders are both already fed with additional 5V power so I wonder why still the transformer gets relatively hot.

Do you have a thermometer? Uncomfortably hot can be from 50 to 70 degrees. If the temperature is around 60 degrees with 8 cartridges and all of them are working fine, then this is acceptable IMO. Of course this puts some stress on the transformer and DC convertors, but I guess it's still better than using 110v.

Didn't measure but it seems to be within limits. When closed, the plastic of the TR gets less hot as the original transformer.
