I always played a cracked version of the game with SCC instead of SCC+ when I was little, and although there are some differences here and there in terms of the instrumentation (due to channel 4 & 5 sharing the same waveform on the SCC) they’re surprisingly minor. So an SCC+ is definitely not a must to enjoy the game and its great music.
Yeah, I think that’s what I’m gonna do. Thanks! Japanese computers are a wild frontier for me...
Then why didn’t you buy an European MSX?
If you buy the Melangolia translation, you can patch the disks for different type of SCC's, a real SD Snatchers sound cartridge, the Snatcher sound cartridge, or even a version with detects every other SCC(+) type, so you can select what you want to use. You get the best translation of the game as a bonus

My buddy brought it from japan for me. It’s in great shape! But if I got a euro one I’d be just as confused
Edit:
@Creepy: thank you so much for pointing me in this direction! I placed an order.
And thanks to all of you, really. So far I’m really impressed by this scene. I wish the x68000 community was this cohesive.

Money well spent. You won’t be disappointed!
I have been trying translated SD-Snatcher with GR8NET (I think using Sofarun if I am not mistaken), and it worked perfectly as SCC and SCC+. Should I make a video?

Sure, why not? I’d love to learn more about it. Let us know when it’s up.
Hey, guys--update. At this time I'm trying to run original Snatcher. I got a real SCC from a complete version of Snatcher (JP version) but when I load from Sofarun the game locks up at the options screen when I try to actually load the game. Any advice?
edit--oh, and I got SD snatcher to work, but it doesn't save. I am able to insert the userdisk using sofarun's disk emulation, but after saving when I look at the disk the file isn't there. Any help with that one?
Thanks again...
psy: I concatenated 4 disks (disk1+2+3+userdisk) make sure they are writeable in the sofarun settings. Then when saving switch to disk4 and save there. A userdisk can just be a generic 720kb formatted disk file. You will be able to save then. SD Snatcher saves are sector based and not file based so that might explain why nothing shows up, i am not sure if/how sofarun handles sector based writes.
In windows you would type this:
copy /b file1.dsk + file2.dsk + file3.dsk + user.dsk snsnatch.dsk
About Snatcher - this one is picky on slots and the likes... so you might experiment a bit with configurations (disable memory mapper in the carnivore if possible)
Hello,
am new msx user .. how do I create an empty userdisk ?
