Hi Louthrax,
I have a question. I have a Philips VG-8235 with Carnivore2. I adjusted the screen in SofaSet. Can I save the settings? So if I turn off the computer and turn it back on, my setting will be reloaded? On the CF of Carnivore2 is an autoexe.bat, can I modify it?

Hi MiC,
I have a Philips VG-8235 with Carnivore2. I adjusted the screen in SofaSet. Can I save the settings? So if I turn off the computer and turn it back on, my setting will be reloaded?
The settings that SofaSet allows to adjust are stored in RTC (Real Time Clock) memory. This memory is not reset, even if you switch off your MSX. But that requires to have batteries or capacitors charged. On the VG-8235, you have capacitors or rechargeable batteries.
If you leave your MSX on for a while, they should recharge, and your settings (including the current time and date), will be kept. If not, it could be interesting to check if your batteries are not leaking. But be carefull before trying to open a VG-8235, it's easy to break some plastic parts on the side of the keyboard. It also requires some soldering skills to remove the old batteries and put new ones. Let us know here if you want some advices before doing that.
It is also possible with SofaSet to store your settings in a file instead of RTC memory (if your RTC battery is dead or removed, or if your MSX does not have RTC):
Usage: SS [options] [settings_file] [options] can be one or more of: /Q: Do not display user interface /H: Display this help If [settings_file] is specified, settings are read and written to that file. "SS.COM /Q" can be used to reset screen settings according to the MSX ClockChip values.
Hi Louthrax,
On the CF of Carnivore2 is an autoexe.bat, can I modify it?
Yes you can! You just need to know what you're doing. What would you like to change ?
Thanks Louthrax.
I understood everything. The battery is new, have not used the computer for a long time.
The battery needs to recharge.
In autoexe.bat I wanted to have the settings of SofaSet. So that the settings are charged independently of the battery.
I hope I wrote that right .. my english ..
