Jarek Burczynski's new YM2413 core in MAME sounds just fantastic. Best I've ever heard! MAME also has OPL3 and OPL4 cores now...

Moonsound emulation should be on its way then Smile

I wonder which emulator will be the first in this one.

Well that would be a nice solution then.. it's far more easy to make a tracker on PC supporting an emulated opl4 (with a custom amount of RAM!) than doing so on an msx.

Probably I can even arrange that since I'm designing IT3 a.t.m. This OPL4 emu would be an instrument then (a plugin). In the tracker you can define which fields to use (note, volume, instr. etc.) so you can make it as CPU intensive as you want.

... it takes all the fun out of the whole thing as well. Smile

When there are numerous alternatives already, then ok, but when there's not much choice yet ..

well for practical reasons, an msx can't emulate 640k mem in the opl4 when it has only 128k, a pc can!

Seems a bit overkill to buy a PC that can when you can just add 512K for a couple of euros Tongue

I wouldn't buy a pc for that, I have one already. So that's not an arguement for 99.99% of the users. Wink

Emulating an OPL4 with 18 FM channels, 24 wave channels in stereo is quite a hefty task for the majority of PC's people have at home. Only a relatively small percentage of PC users has anything faster than 300 MHz.

Getting off-topic though...
