Hello,
I am new the MSX world. I have 2 Sony HB-F1XDJ computers I would to use. I have a Commodore 1084S monitor I would like to use with them. I have read that these computers use different pin-outs for video. Are there video cables available for sale somewhere? Oh I am in the USA.
I also read that the FD belt should be changed out. I will do that.
Where to get software and how to move from the internet to a real FD?
Thanks

Hello,
if you want, I can email you games that you can put on a real disk (msx formated) with usb floppy drive. these are bin bas files with menu and load leader. I use a Toshiba( PA3109U-1FDD) usb floppy drive and windows 10, it works well for me.You can drag the files onto the disk( formatted on the msx). (Note: not al usb floppy drive will work I don't know why)

I use a Philips nms 8250 msx2 computer, and a nms 8250 converted to a msx2+
Also you can consider using a MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD and 512K RAM or a carnivore2 cartridge to play games cos a couple of games (konami) use a scc chip for enhanced sound. and play mega roms on the msx. and run sofarun (that replaces the floppy drive).
You can put sector based games (Iuse the MegaFlashROM SCC+ and 512K RAM for this purpose as well) with fdload on a real disk.
these are .dsk files on the internet and run on msx-emulators (blue msx for example). Sofarun uses the .dsk files also you don't have to covert the files.
msx roms and dsk files are easely found on the internet.

As for the cable maybe you can convert a scart cable and solder a din plug to it?

Mitsubishi (Japan), National/Panasonic (except the FS-A1WSX), Sakhr, Sony and Yamaha computers + Sanyo MSX2/2+ computers
These computers use DIN 45326 type A. This is the official RGB pinout for the MSX, described in the MSX-Datapack and shown in the following table.

Pin Name Description SCART Connection
1 GND Ground To all SCART ground pins
2 AUDIO Audio To SCART pin 6
3 AV Slow switch (+5V) To SCART pin 8
4 CSYNC Composite Sync (1.8Vpp.) To SCART pin 20
5 YS Fast switch (+12V/+5V) To SCART pin 16
6 R Red signal To SCART pin 15
7 G Green signal To SCART pin 11
8 B Blue signal To SCART pin 7

YS is +5V on Japanese MSXs.

googled Commodore 1084S Sorry just see that this monitor has no scart

Over here the layout of both the Sony (DIN 8 RGB connector (Japanese models)) and of the 1084S are listed. It's not that hard to create a cable yourself.

for msx files jou can get them at planetemu.net or file hunter dot com

disk manager:
http://www.lexlechz.at/en/msx.html i use this program to get the bin files from a .dsk and put is on a real floppy doesn't work with sector based games like undeadline xax laydock e.c. thats the program fdload good for that comes with Megaflashrom scc sd. it copies direct from a micro sd-cart to real floppy on the real msx.
