I have a D6450 (looks like NMS1515) datarecorder which worked fine with a 9volt adapter. Since a couple of days it stopped fast forwarding and rewinding. When i use one of these buttons, it’s sounds like it’s working for a couple of seconds but it them pushes the buttons back and stops. You can hear gear spinning but the wheels won’t turn. When i press play, stop or pause, it just works fine.

I decided to unscrew it and look inside. I can’t see anything weird going on or anything broken.

Anyone who knows how to fix this?

Maybe the gears have broken teeth?, it's a common problem with the Philips datarecorders.
...or belts are in bad shape of course...

Are there multiple belts? I only saw one when i opened it. Also, the gears seem te be turning just fine.

Check the marked gears, they are the ones that deteriorate

Well well well, look what i just found. A discoloured and broken gearwheel. How the fuck does that thing turn yellow in the dark?

Unlike what I thought myself for a long time, it appears plastic actually turns dark/yellow with heat not sunlight. Paint on stickers fades with sunlight. Sunlight actually helps in retrobrighting (although not very useful for internal broken parts Wink)

Have you recently eat pasta "farfalle" type near the datacorder? LOL!

There are 3 gears with a degradable plastic type, you will have to replace these 3 gears.
Here you can find them https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3877723

To get to the wheels and replace them with the 3D printed ones, remove the metal piece where the circle is and lower the compact piece downwards and press the tabs where the arrows are.
