No, we are.

Yes; but now up in the sky he's enjoying how zillions of people are using C5s now Smile. Thanks Sir Clive!

Sir Clive Sinclair invented the ZX81 and he died aged 81

Indeed, it's a strange and funny coincidence Wink

He was one of the few individuals who had a clear vision at the time of what the personal computer was, and where it should be headed. Even if the ZX computer world was not the one I choosed, I totally respect what he did and what he developed.

Have a great journey into the great data bus in the sky, Sir Sinclair ...

Oh man, that ZX81. My first computer. The one I got had been rebuild into a proper keyboard casing. It even had 16K of memory, though the expansion module was wobbly and would trigger reset randomly. I learned Basic on this machine, but I outgrew it fast. That's when a brand new SVI-728 entered the house.

Nothing but respect for Sir Sinclair. His achievements will live on. But that's what I say now. Back in the day I wanted to trash it as quickly as possible. Smile

He was responsible for all those annoying electric wheelchairs we have with disabled people running into people on the pavement, all based on his original C5 concept.

I was actually quite shocked when I read the news this morning. Of course he was at a respectable age already, but still I felt very sad and I still do. And I never owned a Spectrum myself, even though I play it from time to time through emulators. We'll all meet the same faith of course, but to us retro-computer-enthousiasts, there'll be a lot of these new posts in the coming years. Most of these great pioneers are simply getting old and retro themselves by now.

But what a legacy he left! Not all his products succeded in the market, but wow, a pioneer he certainly was! I could listen to his old interviews with him talking about the future all day.

May he rest in peace.

True. I clearly remember when under the summer's heat, the ZX's rubber keys started to melt and fingerprints were visible over them. Of course after long "Elite" game playing sessions... Big smile
