@jltursan: I see, yea an MSX2+ would indeed be great. Now if only I could find one today! Anyways, I really appreciate all of your advice on my discussion. Thank you!

The Japanese version of Metal Gear 1 does not play on European machines indeed. The European version does, however. Metal Gear 2 plays on any machine, but is in Japanese, of course. Smile

You could try to get a Japanese MSX, or the ESE System 3 MSX (also known as 1 chip MSX). That one does have both a S-Video output and a VGA output.

Hi there. Well I have figured out how to get some form of a display onto my NTSC set. I used a scart - RCA adapter (only this time I made sure that it worked Big smile ) and then utilized a Pal - NTSC adapter that then connected to my TV. It does work, only problem is main boot menu is in 50HZ and NTSC display are 60HZ, so there are wavy lines ,etc. However, as the game switches over to 60hz automatically, the title runs well. Only problem is the color pallet is quite dumbed down, probably due to the pal - NTSC adapter (without that, I instead had black / white!) I think the whole screen and game are darker, and more monotone than normal.
In any event, I am going to purchase a Japanese MSX2, one that suits my needs, and will allow me to experience it in full without any more necessary purchases. So long, Radioshack! Anyways, thank you all for helping me out here. I finally found a solution and I am sure that this will work!

While a Japanese MSX2(+) would indeed have been a fine option, this is a nice MSX2 computer too. Perhaps there is still a way to make this little wonder work. First off: what kind of TV/monitor are you connecting it to? What kind of connections does it have? Perhaps there is still a way to hook the MSX up.

Have a look on ebay to see if you can find an old RGB monitor. It may take a bit of looking, but I've seen them, even in the USA. Otherwise you could try shopping for a small TFT which has RGB input, not many do in the US though...

If this fails, perhaps you have an old PC somewhere in which you could install a video-capture card? A new capture card should set you back like $30, and you could prolly find one on ebay for even less. I suppose you should check if it's PAL capable, but I've never seen any capture card which wasn't NTSC & PAL. It's not an ideal solution, but it does do the trick.

Anyhow, you do have options, just make sure you don't spend too much either, since a Japanese MSX2+ (which would indeed work out of the box) would only set you back $75 - $100. i too have bought a european msx and have an old pc laying around could someone suggest a capture card with pal rf?

Dont worry, capture cards admit all the video system.
