look here http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5793351/description.html
and discard the datashet by registering.

It's an evolution (probably by TMS people) of the tms9918, featuring:

scroll registers
screen 2 like mode doubled in resolution
a screen 5 like mode
512 colors of palette?
10 hw sprites on a scan line.
and not clear multicolor sprites.
Also there is some sort of sprite group collision using the 3 color attribute bit that are unused on tms.

I'm wondering what would be msx with this chip inside instead of the originally 9918......

Take a look....

Bizarre Patents

Reward Candy Dispenser for Personal Computers

A personal computer peripheral, battery powered reward candy dispenser which immediately presents students with a single candy for each problem completed correctly.

I dunno what's more shocking, that chip or this candy stuff.. Tongue

The "inventor" is "Leach, Jerald Gwyn". Seeing the similatity with the old tms, i think was one of the other engineers working on 9918. But i'm not sure.

Wow, I think it cost about 10'000$ to fill in the patent application. I hope the computerized candy bar is worth it Wink
