The editor is not translated. I just have a translated schema. As I said, it's not possible to add new music... but I bet they are made with MuSICA.

It's not that easy, since you can't see any file at the disks (they are sector based).

Maybe the MuSICA format has some header that could be identified by searching sectors? If that`s true, maybe could be possible to "inject" a new song replacing the normal ones...

The only problem would be to detect the size/length in sectors of each song, but I guess it could be done in the worst case, as a trial/error base guess Tongue

Hi!

I can reap music for all levels from this disk. The only thing I have no clue how to do is composing a music. If somebody can write new songs I can put them back to disk aswell. And if songs will be bigger than original, we can compress them.

How is the enemy AI defined? Are there pre-set behaviours or can it be 'coded' to ones needs?

About music... I wouldn't worry about that, because there are 40 predefined tunes. They are really nice and AFAIK some of them have never been used on any other game.

Of course, it would be very cool to add new music... but it may bring complications to a simple project as I'd like it to be.

You have to 'code' them graphically, but I think there are some pre-set too.

To add to what imanok said about the AI:
You can also change attack pattern (no shot, single shot directed at you at various speeds, shoot in 3 directions at various speeds, 4 directions at various speeds and 8 directions at various speeds), fire pattern (fixed interval or random and at various speeds), destruction effects (power up capsules, regular explosion, or shooting a last shot with also all kinds of options), vertical and horizontal speed and some other stuff. So basically you can do quite a lot of customising the enemies.

Bosses have some additional options to choose from.

And about the editor being translated, we are willing to prove a patch if that supports this project in any way...

@Imanok: if you want us to incorporate your translation some of the menus let us know and off course you'll get the credits for the translation. If you can't find it or it's otherwise difficult then I can translate it as well...

That would be helpful for sure!. In Japanese is hard to navigate when you're not used to it...Sad

To add to what imanok said about the AI:

Great! because the translation I have doesn't get to that level of detail... only the main options are translated.

And about the editor being translated, we are willing to prove a patch if that supports this project in any way...

Of course it would be great, not only for that project but for anybody's future projects Wink

The translation I have was made by Takamichi Suzukawa... the only thing I did was making the schema. I can send it to you if you want.

Of course, a translation patch would be a better option (although harder and more time consuming).

Well if you didn't make the translation then it's probably better not to use it. Perhaps Takamichi Suzukawa won't like if we use it. We'd have to ask his permission and that might take a while. But if you like to, please ask him if we can use it and of course he'll be credited.

The menus will be translated fast enough. They are the same for horizontal and vertical stages and are quite easy to translate. Only all those help texts are a bit more work. Perhaps to facilitate a speedy start of this project we can split the translation into 2 or even 3 phases.

1) menu script (which might be less legible because of all the options)
2) partly translated program with all the menus and general texts translated
3) fully translated program including all the help texts

What do you think?

And regarding that you only had a partly translated menu script it's all the more astoundingl that you were able to make Gradius III legends!

You're right... make your own translation of the menus if you prefer.

It was worse than that... I made G3L with the previous version of the editor ('Yoshida Kensetsu', the one built inside 'Super Zelixer') and I had no translation at all for that!! Tongue

Well it's not about preferring but I don't want to get into trouble with Takamichi.

Man, respect!
BTW do you know if Yoshida Konzern is the most advanced version of the editor? Otherwise it be a shame to translate that one first...
