The first idea is to try to repair cable, of course depending on how you broke it... If it's just some wires at connector side, then you can easily repair them (removing pin sockets from connector and soldering broken wires).

one or two cables broke, but was kinda messed up from start,i did put grey one in wrong place when came loose,is there any wiring charts for it,and what about the connection,ie would it be like a normal p.c,putting the socket into pin 1?.

With original drive + cable, repairing the cable you have is by far the easiest, and best method...

Wiring diagrams are in the service manual (maybe elsewhere too). If you grab the service manual, make sure you have the correct one (8235/00, 8235/20 etc) as differences between these 'sub-models' are exactly in the diskdrive wiring (among a few other things).

if you use a PC 1.4Mo try CALL FORMAT with B: because DS1 is selected in this model

If the drive LED is lit continuously, you have the cable upside down.

Does the motor spin?
If not, (and you are using the original drive) you probably have a broken motor belt...
If the LED is always lit, you must turn the cables 180º at the connector.

Otherwise, if you are using a PC drive, remind that you must hack the unit to use it as DS0... instead of the DS1 default in PC drives.
