Hi all,

I used to be a fanatic MSX-lover. I did mostly hardware.

Recently my interest was peaked again. And since I've great amount of time available (dont need to work for a while Smile )

I would like to create some hardware for it.

for example:

Memory mappers

Slot-Expanders

SD-card readers

mp3-players

andso forth..

are there still people in need of certain piece hw ?
(if not I will only create some proto-types for myself)

Hallo marlon-B,

welcome to MRC! See here for someone who likes to make a memory mapper, too.

Hmm depending on the price, I might be interested in a slot-expander. Slowly getting problems that I have to much hardware for my slots especially on the 2+.

I believe slot expanders are very welcome Smile

marlon-B, there are some MSX HW developers in the MSX scene:

But unfortunately some products are no longer available (specially slot-expanders!)

What's the difference between this ese-scc and the available Mega Flash ROM SCC+ through MSX Cartridge Shop?

Ese scc games reading from hdd/cf instead of flashing all the time...

Welcome here, marlon-B ! It would be nice if you could tell us some more about your activities in the MSX scene back then - AFAIK hardware builders have always been a minority. Smile2

I think slot-expanders are only used because (almost?) no-one is doing internal upgrades anymore (apart from DIY). So with Flash interface, external mapper & SCC cart/FM-PAC/Music Module you run out of slots fast. With enough internal RAM that's less of a problem.

Whatever you do: if you're building cartridges, putting more functions inside 1 cartridge makes it more useful. Shipping costs money, circuit boards cost money, but most parts are cheap. So you might as well cram as much stuff as you can in whatever size cart you pick. For example a combination of (in-cartridge) slot-expansion, 1 MB. or bigger memory mapper & SD card interface (perhaps even SCC or MSX-Music?) would sell like hotcakes if the price is right. You'd probably need a large CPLD or small FPGA to put that in 1 cart... Question

@Tanni: I have built memory mappers (lots of 'm, internal upgrades, long ago) Cool just not using CPLD's for that.

Ese scc games reading from hdd/cf instead of flashing all the time...So you can transfer data to that ese scc. It is some kind of drive, right? Same as a CF then?
