As I have never touched any turboR specific code (but do own one); I got curious. I just enabled R800 ROM mode on one of my MSX1 projects.
I never realised that it would make such a difference. Even without any specific R800 opcodes.......... Probably due to the IX and IY registers....
All the gain is in the non-specific opcodes. The only useful r800 only opcodes are mulub/muluw and I doubt they would give you a speed-up of 6-8 times.
