Following Arturo Ragozini's advice I dare to publish out of Karoshi's forum a tiny demo which exploit VPD features:

- Transparecy.
- Colours out of the fixed msx1 pallette.
- 2 interlaced BMP's
- Set a multicolour zone.

Cool, makes me thing of your pirates demo. Also cool that you got mid-screen sync working right with sprite collision.
It's kinda flickery (yes, on a tv too), 25hz flip works best if the luminance difference is small.

Did you try it on a real MSX btw? The behaviour here between emulator and MSX (Panasonic CF2700) is different: text is missing on my MSX1

Yes, of course (VG8020). Nothing is missing in this computer and LCD TV monitor. Testing it on the same computer, vg8020 and ( maybe different versions) pipan had the same problem.

Do you switch to screen 3 using a screen split?
I think that the bars are in screen3, are they?

@ARTRAG: a better looking version. MRC deserves it.

It's an screen split to switch multicolor mode(SC3). The "raison d'etre" of this demo is to find VRAM enough for this mode and make it works. And there is room for sprites definition and attributes. Smile... tranparency, scroll, equalizer...are secondary.

wow [WYZ] what an awesome tune! Does it jam the cpu or could it be used in an interrupt player in a game?

By the way blueMSX complains about too fast vram acess. Including 50Hz machines.
