I bought a Sony HB-201p recently, and I can buy the memory cartridge UDC-01 from Yamaha for the CX5M.
(the cartidges are brand new, the guy from the vintage synthesizer store here in amsterdam has lots of these in brand new packages )

According to the MSX FAQ the UDC-01 is internally the same as the HBI-55. Can anyone confirm, that it will also work with the Sony HB201P?

Yes, there are the same.
But watch out, the battery is empty and can give some problems.

Hmm, it seems that i bought a dead piece of hardware? @repair-bas Is it possible to replace the battery inside the cartridge? According to the packaging the lithium battery had a lifespan of 5 years.

@repair-bas Smile thanks, i was afraid, that it somehow wasn't renewable.

I just realized before opening the cartridge; 'Why don't i try it first?' otherwise i would damage the sticker on the side in order to have a peek inside. It worked out of the box! To be quite honest, will I use it on a daily basis as my personal agenda? The answer is of course no. It's doesn't even come close to the portability, you will have with current smartphones. (Although the HB201p has a cool handle integrated in the body, so one could argue the definition of portability Wink ) It is just pure fun, to see it working Big smile

20 euro's ex. shipment costs. He has roughly 20 till 30 pieces new (they were covered with some dust tough Smile ) The guy does a lot with vintage sound equipment

I found the link on ebay http://cgi.ebay.nl/MEMORY-CARTRIDGE-for-YAMAHA-CX-5M-or-other-MSX-NOS-/200625801617?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_146&hash=item2eb63ac991

If you want i can make a picture of it (box + cartidge) On ebay he only shows the cartidge.

nice find! I always wondered if there would be MSX-related NOS (new old stock, stuff that has been laying around in shops all these years, never been used etc). I was looking at that webshop to see if they got anything else msx related, too bad they dont have anything else Wink

Now who can find some NOS turbo R's or SD-Snatchers ? Smile

anyway sorry for offtopic rant Smile
