They're a bit pricey tho
Yesterday I bought a flat TFT TV. Its resolution is 1024x768. As the resolution does not match with the MSX resolution it makes some kind of "adjusting" (what's the technical word to describe this?).
The image is not bad but a bit different from CRT TVs/monitors. As I save a lot of space and the flat TV is totally silent I prefer the flat TV.
Some upscan converters allow you to set the resolution. Perhaps once of those would help you to find the best combination for the native resolution of the TFT. Although these devices tend to be a bit pricey, I saw a couple on the net for around 50-60 euros vs the 200 euros for an XRGB. Don't know about quality tho
I don't really know, I use RGB to SCART cables, and I am happy with it ^^;
But I don't think it's as easy as 'make a scan doubler'. I recall MSX-NBNO had such kind of thing. Last fair in Oss they used TFT monitors together with SVHS cables, but they had some kind of device that took care of the conversion of the RGB to the VGA signal. According to them, it wasn't as easy as putting a scan doubler between them.
But I could be wrong...
We had tft monitors connected to the s-vhs ports of the MSX TurboR GT computers.
Image is ok when using graphics, in text display it is bad. 40 colums is ok, 80 colums is hardly readble. when viewing to this tft and a normal MSX monitor, then the MSX monitor image is definitly better.
One of us has a signal convertor, but the image is about the saame quality as described above...

Hi,
I use a Avermedia TV BOX 3 which has a s-vhs input, i use this one with my Turbo-R and a 15inch CRT Philips monitor, the quality is very nice so the avermedia TV BOX 3 is designed to use with TFT monitor, i think the quality must be better. The avermedia cost about 100€, I think is a good solution.
Sorry for my poor english
I tried both MSX2+ (A1WSX) and TurboR (A1GT) with S-video input on Asus 8200 (GeForce 3 Ti200), it was quite disappointing even at low resolution (40 characters per line). The image on regular TV with S-Video input is so much better.
I assume some video-in chips are better then other on PC, but in general it looks like the ultimate solution is a nice flat screen 19" CRT and XRGB[2[+]]
PS: same S-Video input provides outstandingly sharp picture with input from Playstation, Super Nintendo or 3DO F10 consoles... It's probably something about sync signal fronts or voltage or other electric stuff...
Did anyone actually had any experience with the LCD monitors with built-in TV?
I suspect they should be able to "chew" RGB out from MSX as long as H and V sync signals are properly separated (with a small chip, see gamesx.com for detailed info)
Plus I hope they have good quality from S-Video input (for MSX2+ and TurboR machines).
I personally consider this one, but I would like to hear from someone with experience firts: link :)

I placed an order for XRGB2+ from Lik-Sang... Stay tuned for review!
