Frederic.markus, you have to play Manboy 2 game, has a wonderful screen5 horizontal and vertical scroll at the same time.
Manbow 2 also got good sprites without the low framerate that started with Nemesis 3.

I don't see how high vram bits cause more overhead with 8x8.
16k page setting got to happen 3 times, no matter whether 16x16 or 8x8. It is same work.

Yesterday ran my head "R800 could have all that mapped and then 512k tile RAM, yeah".
But plain MSX2 and for the average game, what ran my head was same as in my 64k MSX1 diskloader game, all straight addressing, no mapper. Screen 8 tiles need halve as much as MSX1 scroll tiles, lol.
In case of a ROM game, I would download from ROM to straight RAM. And download the selfmodifying codes.

MSX2 got screen 2 with scrollregister.
But the border does wobble forth and back with the scroll, getting this fixed needs a MSX2+ with 9958 VDP.
But the bitmaped screen 5 and screen 8 scrollers, one can get that with stable border on plain MSX2.
