@hit9918: sorry i didnt meant to be offensive, i just didnt think that "trick" is anything special. I have done that as long as I remember in pc music making/tracking so I regard it as something very basic. And really, I am not some musical genius who does special tricks or anything, I learned this by studying other modules.
I would assume you dont see it often in msx trackers because of limited available channels, but even so I recall seeing it at once or twice and this was really like 20 years ago.
It's indeed mostly the channel limit that makes us not spend too many channels on each 'component' (where a component could be a bass, chord, lead etc.)
@manuel thanks for reminding me about oracle, I gave it a try a long time ago but couldnt get it to work.
@hit9918 thanks, i got oracle to work now
I got problems saving a new file in oracle.
After reading it back in "file has a read error".
Saving one of the big files, it works.
the "save as" GUI doesnt let me type a filename... had to create a dummy test.orc file by hand to be able to select it in gui.
Please, what happen with game Labirynth??
With music module with kit msx-audio dont work...Some idea? some fix bug?
@syn,
Yes, I much agree that this is not "trick".
Like, not much more to do than enter the letters twice.
I don't know trackers, just have seen two, I feel like the tool situation is odd, and that makes one whining for bigger chips.
Of course you always want the bigger chip, but... from a PSG point of view, on OPLL you can combine 3 channels to one voice, and then still have 3 voices, that is perverse
I want to give an example in moonblaster:
First, I set up the instruments in F4/msx-music so that I1 is violin, and so on.
i.e. "selected voices" colum is identical to "hardware voices".
And then:
I1 I4 I1 C3 C4 C5
With CTRL-W can turn on/off channels. Play channel 3 alone, hear the naked OPLL voice.
Like, I4 one octave lower was used to soften things, I1 another octave lower added some rrr.
I4 instrument 4 is some soft tone to keep in mind.
I5 instrument 5 sounds similar to PSG.
I hope in oracle I somewhere find a way to set ADSR.
