I have two YIS503IIR MSX1 and two YIS503IIIR MSX2 for sale.

Computer No.1

Slightly yellowed keys and light tilt of the space key due to old age. Including the RS-232 based network module (in side slot). Fully functional (network module tested too). The white thing at the bottom on photo is the trace of white paint dye, not scratch. Price 65 EUR.

Computer No.2

Slightly yellowed keys and light tilt of the space key due to old age. Including the RS-232 based network module (in side slot). Fully functional (network module tested too). Small not tangible scratches at the top and at the space key. Price 50 EUR.

Computer No.3

No tilt on space key, keyboard in very fine condition. Including the network module (as far as i know this model use not RS-232 but some modification of MIDI engine based schematics, like reworked SFG module from CX series). Fully functional (network module tested too). This one have a little splinter (pic below). Price 70 EUR.

Computer No.4

No tilt on space key, keyboard in very fine condition. Including the network module. Fully functional (network module tested too). At the top left corner it is not a melted plastic, it's glue from old sticker (there was sticker with number of computer in the network). Price 100 EUR.

Some info about the computers:

These computers are 'sisters' of Yamaha CX5 series. Though, side slot on CX was used for music module, in YIS it's used for network module. YIS503II(I)R was produced for USSR schools, not for retail sales. Thus they are extremely hard to find in decent state and close to impossible to find in the mint state. YIS503IIR have 64K RAM and 16K VRAM and have MSX2 9938 (not 9918 etc) VDP, so it's not a 'true' MSX1 and it's possible to play some games (like Salamander) on it. YIS503IIIR have 128K RAM and 128K VRAM. Network modules from those two are nor hardware neither software compatible. Network BIOS for MSX1 networking module is not soldered in the module itself, but is on special mini-cartrige which is placed at the front side (you can open the cap and remove it). BIOS for MSX2 network nodules is on the module itself, and contains some 2K of additional SRAM in the top of this address page, and a CP/M with network utils (can be run by CALL CPM from BASIC).

So you can just plug in a SFG-05 and FM Voicing Program II mini-cartridge, and you’ve essentially got a CX5MII / CX7M? That’s cool…

wow, sold very quickly. But prices were very attractive too Smile

I hope someone can dump and analyze the YIS-503IIR for the openMSX team.

@ Manuel: Please let me know what and how you need to do. I have also very rare Sanyo Russian MSX2 computers, I think it is a good idea to dump them as well.
