So, I can use ExecROM to run a ROM image with it, you'd thing. No... I tried a few ROM images, but the tR hangs after loading the image.... :
Some ROM images require a pathch file to work correctly.
I tried R800 mode, but then I get even more errors reported by TestRAM (I guess it's kind of random).
I tried a ROM that works on the 8250, but does not work on the tR... I guess because of the errors.
My conclusion is that I have a very lousy MegaRAM
If anyone has a MegaRAM for sale, let me know
Correction: I meant, I tried Z80 mode.
It sounds like a lousy MegaRAM, the is a 2Mb (256k) one on ebay at the moment, although I think it is a little expensive! I paid a similar price for my 8Mb (1024k) device, I had mine upgraded by a friend in Brazil who got some RAM chips from, an old VGA card. The one on ebay I do not think is upgradable.
A long link, perhaps someone will edit is to a small one since I cant remember the HTML code off the top of my head!!

Thank you
I have just run TestRAM, which tells me that I have 1024kb of RAM in my MegaRAM, am I right in saying that 1024k is actually 8Mb, looks like I've made an error!
Yeah, it is my mistake! When I said 2Mbit, I meant 2MB. Also, when I read your 4Mbit, it processed as 4MB in my mind! I think I need to cool down it a bit!
MegaRAM can max out to 2 megabytes or 16 megabits.

...
The largest ROM that I have seen is 4Mb, are there any 16Mb in size? or indeed any in 8Mb in size?
Most of them are games... there are around 10 megaroms with 8mb in size and I do remember 1 as 16megarom (but it was a korean cart with lots of small roms inside).
Carts with 8Mb: some Koei games, Holy Qu'ran, korean cart and others... just check them around (google is your friend).

Manuel,
Some MegaRAMs just don't work with TR. I have a TR GT and a DDX MegaRAM (512KB). Some guys replaced the memory chips by faster ones and solved the problem. Other guys did the same and got no results.
My MegaRAM didn't work with my TR until I tried it on my DDX slot expander. It worked! But it doesn't work on any TR slot, it must be on DDX slot expander.
ExecROM or TestRAM just recognizing the MegaRAM isn't enough. They must display its size correctly. Sometimes the MegaRAM is detected, but it can't map its pages correctly or data read from or written to its memory is corrupted, and you just get a "frozen MSX" when running a MegaROM.
You reported that your MegaRAM runs fine on a non-TR machine. So I believe your MegaRAM is ok (if you're still in doubt, run TestRAM).
I don't have any further tip... If you're not willing to use a soldering iron on your MegaRAM, try putting the MegaRAM in a slot expander in your TR.
Regards,
Adriano
