PC Drive, HD floppy, "CALL FORMAT" > "DISK ERROR"

I am trying to use a PC floppy drive with my Yamaha MSX2 YIS-805
The floppy drive is a SAMSUNG SFD-321B with HD sensor ( http://alen.dreamhosters.com/imgpr/samsung2.jpg )

I use an HD floppy disk with covered the HD hole
the I do
CALL FORMAT, drive A, Double-Sided
The the stepper makes all 40 steps then the headset returns to the track 0 and then I get "DISK ERROR"

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

allow me to clarify:

- the sequence works with the original floppy drive

- by saying "CALL FORMAT, drive A, Double-Sided" I meant, that I type "call format" then follow the prompts, i.e. Choose drive A (since the drive is configured as drive A) and then choose 1 for Double Density then I press any key, you know, the usual sequence of actions

you will be asked the drive (if applicable)
then
you will be asked single of double sided (if applicable)

it does not ask for the density of the disk

yes, you are absolutely right, I meant density not sides

SIDES and not DENSITY is what I am talking about, sorry for confusion
