If you wish, I can post the reworked SplashScreen image here, so you can see yourself what I did to post-process the image after the conversion, kinda like a pack of tips in a single image.
That would be awesome I'd love to see the the reworked image! Also thanks for all the info and links to tools, I've already converted an MSX2 pixel art image to a .SC5 file
Well, here it is then. I hope you like it.
Compare it with the old version to see how I changed some parts to try to best represent your original drawing, while made the best effort to disguise the color bleeds. On screen-2 this always means to make choices on what you preserve or discard, since it cannot perfectly represent the original drawing. And sometimes it's necessary to use some nifty tricks here and there.

Wow! It looks great, nice job on the touch ups! I've noticed its really hard to maintain black lines in screen 2 without a lot of color bleed lol
really nice sd_snatcher!
Here's a screen 5 MSX2 pixel art I just finished! I'd love to know what you guys think :D
Awesome!!! I love it!! You're a master!
Wow a master? Thanks a ton I really appreciate that! I had a lot of fun with this one
I'm flabbergasted! You even used the correct MSX Pixel Aspect Ratio! (this is why they look thinner here on the forum image, but absolutely wonderful on the real aspect).
I must say I love your characters style too!
Another bonus tip: When exporting the PNG file on GIMP, remember to tick the "Save Resolution" checkbox (even better, click on the button to save this as the default), so the Pixel Aspect Ratio metadata is stored on the file. This way, the image will be seen with the correct aspect ratio on viewers that honour this metadata.
GIMP, Photoshop and XnViewMP all honour the embedded Pixel Aspect Ratio metadata. Sadly, on the browsers landscape it's the opposite: none of the current browsers seems to render Pixel Aspect Ratio correctly.
BTW, can you please send me the .SC5 file to be included in the Pixel Art Collection Vol.3? :)

Looks really nice once again! Wonderful artwork. I also like the recurring characters & theme :).
A more in-depth comment; I wonder, since the spherical and cylindrical shape of the bomb and cannon shows some banding, if it would look nicer if you compressed the bands a bit more to the outward edge? In other words, keeping the white highlight the same size, but increasing the surface area of the first metallic tone so that the gradient area becomes more narrow.
(Am referring to the “condense bands” tip that’s mentioned here.)
