Very clear picture. Converted with MiFui? How you get no dithering?

For me, the most amazing pixel art video I've seen so far is this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is3DeKxPYDA

I am not sure which program they are using, but for the PS logo on the top left part, it resembles Photoshop or something related... I am not sure.
Anyway it looks like a pretty good program to do sprite animations.

What are your thoughts? I think it turned out pretty well. I’m wondering if I overdid the anti-aliasing in the hair; it smooths the edges but also adds shadow details that weren’t there originally. Is it maybe better to remove some anti-aliasing pixels at the cost of some sharper edges, you think? Please let me hear your critiques.

Well, I guess it depends on what your goal/priority is. If you want it to look as close to the original as possible then you probably have to remove/reduce the anti-aliasing. If aesthetics are more important, leave the anti-aliasing as it is.

Personally I think it looks great as it is right now. And you can call the changes your personal touch Smile

Yes, converted with mifui and then, heavily retouched by hand with "paint shop pro"

I don’t know, I haven’t tried. The values in openMSX don’t match exactly the formula c / 255 * 7 so I guess they’ve measured the actual VDP output voltages. But I don’t think they did this for the V9990.

I've already contributed with OpenMSX reading those voltages on Toshiba MSX Engine, maybe I could do the same using V9990...

Kai: That’s not pixel art. It’s like taking one of those “painting effect” filters in photoshop and calling it a painting Smile.

I know, this is why I called it "pixel arted" (in quotes).
By the waym I did not use any filters, I retouched the dithered pixels by hand one by one to make it look better. Anyway, I am perfectly aware that is not pixel art either.
Just an example of an easier way to port an existing draw to the msx and make it look good enough.

The thread is about creating pixel art, as-in the craft, not about ripping graphics with maximum efficiency at the cost of quality Smile.

Btw I’m still very inexperienced at pixel art, I bet what took me 4-6 hours now will take much less down the road.

Also, the challenge increases at lower resolutions with less colours. My graphic is still fairly high resolution and I was quite generous with the amount of colours used. Ideally I would like to get it down to 12 orso, it would sacrifice fidelity but if I reduce the resolution as well I think it will work out. Also I did some experiments with shadowing just now (not posted).

p.s. You know there is an edit button right, in stead of spamming messages.

Yes, I do know about the edit button, but since some people only read the message they recieve in their email instead of reading in the forum (I do it myself some times) , if anyone edits anything it will not be reflected on the email recieved.

Sorry for writting too many short messages. I will plan my messages better in the future.

By the way, good job!
