I should do that OPAMP mod on my 8250 one day... Anybody knows if Luppie still has some boards to sell ?
he does. Just send him a e-mail.
Good idea to promote the opamp in this thread. I'm sending Luppie an email....
On a related note, does anyone have any experience connecting a generic floppy emulator to an 8250? Are any power or signal-related mods needed, or will the default power and floppy cables from the 8250 just work?
I have used the Lotharek SDcard floppy emulator rev C on my NMS8255. It works without any additional modifications to the NMS8255. I don't know about other floppy emulators, but I'd presume if they follow the same standard (Shugart), they should work. You can even put PC floppy drives inside an NMS8250/55/80 (with very little modifications - IIRC, for HD floppy detection, in case you are using a HD drive, since the MSX can only handle DD drives / floppies, and slave/master selection).
The Lotharek has it's own quirks - for example, it uses it's own file format (no .dsk loading from the SD card!) which will mean constant file conversion. Also, it is not cheap. But, MFRSCC+SD still offers more value (HD emulation FTW!) - except that a floppy emulator will not take up a slot. YMMV - If you can get a cheap floppy emulator, it might be worthwhile, even in addition to the MFRSCC+SD!
Manuel, I have a few questions about the MFRSCC+SD "clone PSG" feature :
- Does the cloned MFR PSG sound add to the existing MSX PSG or is the MSX PSG muted ?
- When /P1 option is used at flash time, the ROM is not patched (the MFR PSG is just configured to use same ports as MSX PSG) ?
- Would it be possible to enabe / disable the "clone PSG" mode after boot (from DOS) ? (I can make a small .COM program if that's the case).
Thanks in advance !
That would be quite handy as the original PSG of one of my machines is almost mute.

It is added.

Yes, that's right.

Yes. You can control PSG clone feature with bit 3 of #7FFC
Great, thanks Manuel!
Is it possible to change more settings this way ?
and does a technical manual exist for the MFRSCCSD where all this is explained ?
