Carnivore2 : First impressions and bugs...

There's no support yet for Carnivore 2 in SofaRun, so my guess it that SofaROM uses the memory mapper. Games might have slowdowns in memory mapper mode at start (time for everything to be cached), and some need specific EI/DI options (have a look at http://lhalter.free.fr/mgr/sofarom_working.html).

Also, for the SCC mode to work in memory mapper mode, you need to set "External SCC" to yes in SofaRun options.

A real support of Carnivore 2 would be way better (still need to find myself a Carnivore device for that to happen, blind coding is really too tricky :)).

Games that no work in a slot expander can't work in a "all in one" cartridge like Carnivore 2.
Manbow 2 requires a specific patch to work in a secondary slot or a external MegaFlashRom / MegarRAM / MegaSRAM in a primary slot.

I do not remember having been asked for that (SofaRun is only free for non-commercial use). Not that I mind too much (I gave my authorization for the distribution with the Rookie Drive), the more my little tools are used the happier I am.

The only thing that bothers me here is that there's no support for the Carnivore hardware in the version distributed with it, so we might have users complaining about problems only caused by the memory mapper use for ROMs...

Sebbeug, thanks for the report. Could you please send those 2 non-working ROMs to me for investigation?

Games that don't like expanded slot can be configured to run in a non-expanded slot. This can be done either at flashing stage by editing the configuration or by applying the specially made RCP file. But of course then only SCC will be working, not FMPAC.

Also until there's the official support from SofaRun for Carnivore2 cartridge, before submitting a bug report please try the C2MAN utility. If mapper autodetection doesn't work or game doesn't work, please send the report and the ROM file to me for checking.

We would like to publicly apologize for distributing SofaRUN together with the Carnivore2 software without your permission. We thought the software could be freely distributed but now seeing the licence we realize it could not be distributed with commercial products. We've taken down the download package and upload a new one without your software. Again, very sorry for the trouble.
