... and when will I become an MSX professional?
What do you know about MSX anyways (this post is meant as sarcasm)
Being sarcastic, Couldn't anyone make a pretty good 4MegaROM game for next MSXdev with 2xSCC cartridges (who doesn't have 2?) plus 2xMoonSound (who doesn't have 2?) plus FM-PAC built-in chip (where available) loadable from HD being required to have at least 512Kb and a Z80B (of course)?
That would be so nice! That's the spirit!
Seriously. Keep on this way and you'll spoil MSXdev. That discourages anyone.

Who wants to program for msx2 anyway? Once you get to know the msx, it is either this or turbor + gfx9000 + moonsound
Ops! I forgot GFX9000. Unforgivable. That would certainly ease coding.

Let's program Turbo-R using Brainfuck! We will be then able to unleash all its potential
Every MSX can play MSX1 games.
There are very few MSX'es that run uh, Turbo-R + GFX9000 + Moonsound games
MSX2, well, it's popular in Europe and Japan, but it's already alienating a lot of people, in a way.
Devving for MSX1 seems an obvious choice, but I don't think there should be too much restrictions otherwise. Just a requirement that it runs on a regular old MSX. Then people could optionally add in whatever they wanted to as well.
I'm also one who's more used to MSX2, but still... MSX2 only games in this competition would, I think, cause a large divide. Chances are it would separate the Brazilian and Spanish communities from the Dutch one as before. That'd be a bummer. What we've seen in recent years is the opposite, it'd be nice to see that continuation, IMO.
The easiest solution seems to be someone to arrange another contest with other requirements than these at MSXdev and there you have it! Everyone happy and developing for both MSX & MSX2.
that would probably still result in a sort of split.... not recommended, I'd think.
Just stick to msx1/psg/8kb..2MB ROMS/64KB RAM. The rest (scc, fmpac, msx2 colors etc.) is a bonus.
2ct.
For sure organisation is required.
What's clear is that mixing MSX and MSX2 developments would make MSX2devs to stand out over MSX's.
