I want to clarify that for these transformations it is necessary to have the proper bmp. For 16 bits / pixel, it is correct as is.
For the other modes I transform the bmp. Which I do with GIMP, in indexed mode, forcing 256, 64 or 16 colors, for 8, 6 or 4 birs / pixel respectively.

I think I have answered you. The source bmp must be of the corresponding quality. Bitmap 24 p for 32k colors, 16 bits / pixel. Bmb of 256 colors for 8 bits / pixel. 64 Colors, for 6bits / pixel. And 16 colors for 4bits / pixel

Your library is something exceptional. Congratulations.
As I mentioned earlier, I hope that the possibility of converting 256 color bmp files is included in the "bmp2g9b".

It is done with 4 sr8 files obtained through the bmp2msx in screen8, which I then load with 4 LMMC. In B3 it looks good, in B1 not so much.
Surely if this were implemented, the result would be better, and the routine simpler.

@manual46: i’ve to find the time to implement that . In the mean time why not try the yuv mode? I think it will even look beter.

YUV mode was not in the v9958, it only haa the YJK mode.YUV mode gives a better result.

Hi msd,
managed to load graphics with g9b BYUV. Openmsx does not emulate this, and believed that something was not doing well. I have contacted them.
I see that for dijitalizadas images it is great, not so much for tiles, where the effect of the 4 bits, is very noticeable.
I insist, when you can enable BD8, please, thanks.
