MSX Fair Nijmegen 2021 postponed to October 16th

The MSX fair in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) is the newest (and for a long time now already the only) regular Dutch MSX fair. It is an annual gathering of MSX geeks usually plotted at the beginning of every calendar year. During Covid19 the fair has been postponed to October the 16th.

Although the world-wide pandemic that held the globe hostage for over a year has weakened in strength, there's still a lot of vaccination to be done in the Netherlands. Furthermore, there are still restrictions applied and regulations in order which prevents MSX lovers to travel to the fair location. It is for that reason that the organisation has decided to postpone once again.

Originally planned for February the 20th, the MSX Nijmegen Fair was postponed earlier to July the 3rd and again to October 16th. Around September the organisers will evaluate whether the date is feasible at that time and keeps us informed. And, there's a change the Nijmegen'22 edition will be held a bit later in that year.

At time of writing 2021's fair is scheduled to be held on Saturday the 16th of October in "Dorpshuis De Lèghe Polder" in Beuningen (a village close to Nijmegen). It opens for visitors at 10am (but you are welcome to come from 9.00am to help setting up the room!). At 6.00pm the room should be completely empty again.

I like it, a fair in autumn... Zandvoort and Bussum style....

It's not during a school holiday here.... But apparently it's the first day of the region North and Middle autumn holidays.
But there's nothing I can do about that. This is the only one in October not coinciding with any MCWF or MVM meetings, as far as I can tell.

I would love to drop by, by then. I live nearby (north of Nijmegen), so it's just 30 minute bicycle ride for me
Hopefully nothing will interfere.

Yeah, a pity 9th of October would be a club date and 23rd would be also in the holiday. So then it would not be in October, but November. And that's a bit too close to the next fair for me. (25th of September would be MCWF day and earlier in September (the 6th was possible) I am busy with birthdays of my own kids...)

So, the 16th of October was the only date I could settle on. I hope some people can delay their holiday with 1 or 2 days.

I created an account just to be able how excited I am about this fair. A rather long time ago, I used to go to MSX meetings in the Netherlands, together with my friends. Seems like I'll be going to this one together with my wife.

As the site says: about 2 months before the fair. Maybe a bit later if things are going bad and it is less likely that we can proceed.

I am almost sure I am not at that meeting.
But the plans are that in september we are free of rules about covid, but 85% of the people have there vaccins.
That is not gonna happen.

Btw: mvm or msxwf can also change the date. Most members of mvm you see never on the fair.

My passport has run out, I'm not sure about travel, accomodation, and CV status yet. I could renew my passport, but then might not be able to use it, this is difficult. Maybe next year? Who knows what will happen?

I can get my passport renewed without an issue, however, I do not think regulations allow me to travel outside the UK at the moment. The Eurostar running from St Pancras International is running just three services a day, which are mostly empty at the moment. When I try to book a ticket the following message appears

"Travel restrictions apply. All passengers must have a negative COVID-19 test and complete mandatory forms before travelling. Check government websites for updates, and find essential travel info here"

I can recommend the Mercure in Nijmegen. Usually we do pre and after "meetings" at the hotel bar. This time I will not be around but fore sure join the february fair.

Hey, Hamlet sorry to hear you are not able to join! Me and Prodatron will join. We will stay only one night in the hotel this year (Friday till Saturday). So we will leave after the traditional dinner after the fair. Hope many people will join the fair so it can be organized.

Unfortunately, it was to be expected. After alternative dates were cancelled, only this weekend was left for our company's social day.
I will miss you but I am looking forward to a meeting in February next year. I hope you will save me a place at the family meeting 2022.
