Well, don't let anyone stop you. Tongue Personally I'd think along the lines of chronicles, rather than news. Like a quaterly overview of all the things that hapened. So, not pretending to be an actual news medium, but more like being a paper museum.

Well, the ultimate goal, the hardest one, is to write something that is not just informative but entertaining. So people do not buy it just to stay informed Smile Did you ever listen to a radio show or read a magazine about a topic you weren't too interested in, just because of how it was presented?

On the other hand, there is many people who don't want to follow all the news on a daily basis but still would like to stay in the know.

And think on the developer side. It is always nice when one of your programs is reviewed especially in a magazine).

Regardless of questions about entertainment and relevance, I feel the hardest challenge is to write 70 pages worth of content on a regular basis Smile. That will require a dedicated team.

Large screenshots will fix that nicely. Wink But indeed, MCCM had 68 pages, and that included lots of repeating things, like the ICP, the two page index, the 'for sale' pages, the two editorials 'n such, and the listings that were large because of that one very long line that stretched the whole frame, filling the whole page. So, 70 pages *will* be a ton o' work. And I kind of fear that the first two..three issues will do well; after that, it gets tough.

As a reference Clube MSX is 40 pages (including the front and back). To me that is big enough.

Just telling my spending habits and preferences... TheKid pointed out the reason I've begun buying (physical) homebrew game review collections like various "annuals" that cover multiple platforms. I doubt MSX content alone would be enough. Beside that, I like seeing what's on the other side of the fence.

Well in my current magazine we have a section called "on another topic" where we review games for other platforms. When it comes to magazines I really believe that "Jack of all trades, master of none". I would rather cut down on the number of pages than trying to cover too wide a topic.

Also, I want to have technical articles that promote creativity and revive the hacker/hobbyist mentality of the 80s magazines, whereas general retro publications focus almost exclusively on the games. One of the coolest things about the MSX is how easy it was to start creating anything. Like playing a tune by typing down a few human readable notes in basic... that's just magic, it would take hours of studying SID programming to produce anything listenable on a C64 for example.

Also interesting are the current developments in Japan where Mr. Nishi (creator of MSX) is working on MSX3!
Should be released in spring next year. There are some threads covering info about that.

Probably it will be a machine with the looks of a raspberry pi 400 but with MSX compatibility. Aimed for education, IOT, programming, etc. So it will attract a lot of new users to the scene.
If MSX3 has some succes, a magazine covering in depth content for also MSX3 also would gain more popularity…Imho Smile
