I was thinking of having quick connect wires soldered on to each controller PCB I wanted to use and then just swapping them out each time I wanted to play on a different device. Also think about a seimitsu stick rather than a sanwa stick unless you play a lot of fighting games on other consoles/arcade as they has more finer movements.

Hmmm ive never played on a stick with seimitsu parts afaik, I've only read about them. I know shmup players prefer seimitsu while sanwa is best for fighting games. And for me the reason to have a joystick is fighting games while tbh I prefer to play everything else with joypad. But I could try something else for a new stick ofcourse.

Good idea about the quick connects, though I don't really wanna open my stick each time I play on different platform. But its a solution, maybe ill to that. Thanks

@NYYRIKKI

Can we modify these little controllers (a bit more) so we have a 3 button or 6 button joypad for the use with Sofarun?
And without using the JoyMega adapter?

Found some more on aliexpress.com that look the same <$3 USD (but I think with shorter cable), I saw they were no longer available on dx.com.
I edited the wiki about the modification here on msx.com

Well... yes, if you add a JoyMega adapter inside Smile Practically JoyMega adapter is all about rewiring the cables like I've done + adding a NOT gate to original pin 8 that I've now just grounded...

I think those are the same that I've seen a lot in eBay... Quickly looking they look like DX controllers, but unfortunately the quality is quite different... Not only the cable is too short for any practical use, but the cable also does not fit well to joystick port, the device feels like it falls apart even by looking it and there is no any feel while playing as all buttons are way too high and feel sloppy... I would not put any effort for converting those as the quality is... well... exactly of what you should expect from 2$ - 3$ device when shipping costs are included. Smile

I confirm those joypads are definitively crappy, but they can be used to build an interface for another good quality (or homemade) joystick. Keep the PCB, solder your buttons on it and add a JoyMega interface (and just throw away the cable and joypad frame).

I confirm too. It's crappy to such a point that I would like to delete the page from the Wiki.

This one looks closer to the DX model... but I have no idea if it is good or not.

I'm so sorry, but I don't think it is my fault if people buy cheaper versions that I suggested. Smile I would not delete the page, but maybe adding a fair warning that there are lot of crappy versions around could be a good idea.

EDIT: I actually removed Bastiaan's comment and added a warning.

Sorry, I did not check... I meant "NOT gate to pad 1 that I've not just connected to +5v"... So practically you need to add NOT gate between orange wire and "pad 1"
