This one looks closer to the DX model... but I have no idea if it is good or not.
I tried those from eBay. They're crappy as hell.
I think the only good quality replacement right now is the Hyperkin GN6 premium controllers. While they're not as great as the original Sega controllers, they are still high quality nonetheless. And even much better than the controllers from DX.

If you look closer the one that I linked does not look like the most typical "crappy as hell"-model that you linked to... Buttons are not that far up, cable is longer etc... Ordering one is still matter of luck... It is extremely hard to see the differences from the pictures as all of these look so similar. If you have tested the Hyperkin, then that sounds like most safe model to go with ATM.

I confirm too. It's crappy to such a point that I would like to delete the page from the wiki

Just delete my link, the originals from dx were not too bad. My kids have not yet succeeded in breaking them....
Too bad we do not have a manufacturer or ean code to check what are the decent versions and what the crappy ones...

I THINK there are 3 models on aliexpress
The all black button ones, with hard plastic buttons, (probably the one nyyrikki is refering to in his initial post about pads from dx.com). I have a USB one, it works, quality is so-so but for the price its not bad imo. I dont like the sharp d-pad, it might hurt after long play.
The one in the youtube vid posted by sd_snatcher (with the lighter color xyz buttons), afaik the buttons have some mushy feel. I played on one a few years back during nijmegen fair.
And there is this one with 16-bit printed on the case, those seem to be more expensive and judging from the looks of them they MAY be better (also have buttons that look more like original sega controllers and have a MODE button), although I think the dpad sticks out a bit too much in the pics I have seen. I have no experience with these. I wanted to buy one just to test but I already have many joypads as it is ;)
And yes those hyperkin gn6 are nice. I played on one briefly during last nijmegen fair on louthrax' booth, quality seems very good. I would buy those if I needed more joypads. (I might actually get a few since I only have one official sega pad and the 3rd parties I own have the mode button in wrong place (next to start button, like the select button on snes/nes pad))
DX seems to have Megadrive joypads to sell again. This model has built-in turbo and the MODE button.
