Following this thread from NYYRIKKI, I not only got on DX the joystick (received it today, haven't test it yet) - I also got a USB floppy disk, for $16.73!

So, if you're looking for a cheap way to transfer your MSX disks to PC, or your software from PC to MSX, I can confirm it works! Just tested with DiskManager, and altough it gave an error at first, it formatted and wrote a DSK, which I tested on my A1ST without problems :)

More tests, some more strange things, but still working!
I tried to format a disk on windows explorer, but the 'format' dialog was completely empty (maybe because WinXP doesn't support 720kb disks?)... so I opened a DOS prompt, and typed:

FORMAT A: /T:80 /N:9

It asked me if I want to unmount the volume first (???), I said yes, and it formatted the disk perfectly! I then copied the games normally, and it works without problem on the tR. Cool

Installation was a breeze: just plug it on any USB port, and it's installed Smile
(only win98 machines require the provided drivers)

So, there you have, a cheap way to do PC<->MSX transfers Big smile

Cool, now we just need an USB controller cartridge to use this toy on our MSXes.

My USB diskdrive under vista doesn't want to format it. Should be the same device dx offers.
I know they sell 2 versions. Mine is a mitsumi

Have you tried using a DOS prompt? (Start->Run->cmd.exe)
As I said, on XP the windows default format dialog shows up empty - but formatting the disk on DOS prompt, or with Disk Manager works... but I haven't tested it on Vista.

As for 'drive version', I don't know - mine is exactly like the pictures on the site - a black box, no 'brand' anywhere. (that's why I didn't even take any pictures, everything is just the same as on site, nothing much to add)

Whoa! Looking at the pictures, my drive IS that one! Same serial number and all!!!

@konamiman: well, most MSXs already come with a disk drive, so this is to be used on the PC-side of things, since newer computers don't have floppy drives anymore Smile

Maybe someone could implement the USB ports on OCM to use this LOL!

Under vista it doesn't allow me to format.
Not through the prompt, not through rumsx directly and not through disk manager.

Compared to the picture. I have a different s/n and a number under the barcode.THe rest is the same.

The driver-cd features drivers for TEAC and Mitsumi drive. Also windows vista identify's this as mitsumi.
Ohwell I will use the SONY 2+ for formatting. (unless I need a dos2 bootsector.)
