I am a total newbie so sorry if this has been answered before.

I got Padial's MMC/SD reader and I was able to format my SD card using PTSDMMC (Mixed Formating) and boot it up. I copied some files from my PC to the card and when I load the card into the MSX I can type "Files" and see the contents fine.

The problem is that I don't understand how to load the .DSK images or the .ROM files.

For .DSK, it seemed to me from the instructions file that I should use SDMMCEP.COM. So I copied that file to my SD cardm and tried to follow the instructions by using the format "SDMMCEP FILE.DSK Drive: /W". However, if I try to load a disk file Egg2.DSK by typing _SDMMCEP EGG2.DSK A: /W I get Syntax error.

For .ROM files, the only option I found was ExecROM. So I downloaded the zip from the web, copied EXECROM.COM to my SD and tried again to simply type ExecROM file.rom. Again, I get a Syntax error (even if I type ExecRom /H which is supposed to prompt me with the help it fails)

So obviously I am missing something here. I understand I am copying all these files in the first partition of my SD card. Is that a problem? Do we need to have just one file per partition? Or does this have something to do with the fact that I don't have MSXDOS.SYS and COMMAND.COM included as files in the SD?

Thanks

You need msx dos.Loading those com files is not possible under msx basic, you need to find and boot from a system disk that would have msxdos.sys command.com and autoexec.bat.

Then under the dos prompt you can type the instructions and the programs would work.

See also http://faq.msxnet.org/suffix.html - but nikodr's explanation should be more than enough :)
