Dear MRC visitors,

We have seriously pulled your leg. On March 28th we reported IGN had acquired the MSX Resource Center. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a 100% genuine April fools joke.

About a month ago we started a poll, investigating the popularity of several Z80 assemblers that are used by MSX developers. Compass has turned out to be the most popular of them all. After 204 votes, these are the results of the poll 'Which is your favorite assembler?'

After more than 7 years of fulfilling his duties as an MSX Resource Center crew member, Bart Schouten decided the time has come to hand over his duties as an admin of our website and a board member of the MSX Resource Center foundation to someone else.

Bart joined the MRC crew late 1999.

Ever since the early 1990s MSX developers around the world used impressive MSX demos as means to show their impressive development skills. Creating effects that often were deemed impossible on MSX, making us laugh with funny animations or just plain old egoboosting: the MSX demo scene had (and still has!) a lot to offer.

Time flies when you're having fun: the first round of voting in our quest for the Best MSX demo ever has already been closed. All entries have now moved on to the second round, in which they will compete in a different order. Only the top 66% of both rounds combined will move on to the third round.

Within 20 hours after starting round 2, the 11 votes necessary to decide which 48 out of 71 demos move on to the "one on one style" third rounds had been cast. Now, we are ready for the really tough task.
