Ever since the very first first-person shooter, people have been wondering: Can MSX do something like this, too?. It resulted, for instance, in this theory on Doom engines on MSX.

On May 3rd, 2006 we published a previously unreleased version of the introdemo of X-Tazy, followed by an XViD video of the same introdemo by the end of June.

A few weeks ago Andre Kuepfer contacted us about X-Tazy, one of the most promising GFX9000 projects for MSX to date. X-Tazy was a high speed, high spec shooter for MSX turboR with Moonsound and GFX9000 that unfortunately never was finished completely.

Manuel Bilderbeek managed to create an AVI video out of the highly anticipated X-Tazy introdemo 1.2, which is, specwise, quite demanding.

On May 3rd a new, previously unreleased, version of the X-Tazy introdemo was released. X-Tazy is a highspec (turboR/Moonsound/GFX9000) MSX shooter which - after a long period of inactivity - might become opensource in order to finish development after all.

XCC opensource

Alex Wulms has open-sourced his Xelasoft utility XCC on SourceForce. XCC, which stands for Xelasoft Control Center, is a Norton Commander like tool for the MSX. The source code is released under GPL.

Alex Wulms has released the MODplayer for MSX turboR which he released as Xelasoft in the mid 1990s. The player is capable of playing MODfiles in mono on PCM, but also can use the DAC of one (or even two) Philips Music Modules, resulting in stereo replay.
