Contents

Effect

Returns the original value of a 8-character string after conversion into a double precision value.

It does not change the actual memory bytes that makes up the original string variable value, so these bytes will be just interpreted as sign, mantissa and exponent.

Notes:

  • This process may easily result into a non valid number that can not be passed forward.
  • The counter function is MKD$().

Syntax

CVD(<StringExpression>)

Parameter

<StringExpression> is 8-character long string expression or variable.

Example

D$="12345678": D=CVD(D$): PRINT D
 3.2333435363738E-16
