Fractal2000 SD Mapper/Megaram 512kb
This page was last modified 15:58, 4 November 2018 by Sd snatcher. Based on work by Gdx.

This is an SD(HC) card interface with dual slots. It features the open source hardware design created by Fabio Belavenuto, and the PCB design was made by MSXpro.

The following features are available:

  • 512kB of RAM expansion that can be configured to either Megaram mode or Memory Mapper mode with a switch on the cartridge.
    • When your machine has more than 64KB of internal RAM, you can switch the cartridge memory expansion mode to the MegaRAM mode, to be able to easily load MegaROM games with softwares like ExecROM or SofaRun.
  • The internal slot expander and memory expansion can also be disabled with another switch. This allows the use of this cartridge on slot expanders.
  • Built-in Nextor kernel to access the storage media. This operating system supports FAT12 and FAT16 partitions.
  • Supports SD and SDHC cards up to 32GB. But given that the MSX operating system doesn't support FAT32 yet, cards bigger than 4GB will have to be partitioned into multiple FAT16 entries.

The contacts of the EDGE connector were tin-plated for the very first batches, and are gold-plated for the current production models.

Price: About $120 (free international shipping).
