Description

The JVC MSX MIDI package was released in 1986 by JVC only in the UK. It was manufactured by the Electro Music Research company (EMR), with exception of the cartridge casing provided by the Dutch Micro Technology company.

It includes

  • A cartridge interface without ROM
  • A MIDI unit with the Motorola MC6850 UART and 4 connectors: 1x MIDI IN, 2x MIDI OUT and a DIN Clock/Start/Stop
  • A ribbon cable that connects the interface and the unit
  • A program on tape: MSX MIDI Studio Performer

This MIDI interface is I/O based.

The package was sold as "MIDI adapter" for £169.

Notes:

  • The Electro Music Research company is from UK, not from Spain.
  • This interface was also released for Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro and ZX Spectrum (see Links).
