Description

This special version of the Philips NMS 8245 was used in some Italian banks and at the Milan Stock Exchange for different financial operations. In some way, it was the prelude to the extension of these operations of Home Banking with the Videotel machines (NMS 3000 and NMS 4000 released in 1988, HCS 80 released in 1990).

The NMS 8245 can internally receive a third cartridge slot, this feature is used here to add an expansion that includes 256kB RAM and a modem with built-in RS-232C interface (see http://gilbertomsx.altervista.org/nms8245/terzoslot/terzoslot.html for details about the addition of the 3rd cartridge slot).

A banking software was provided on a cartridge that was inserted in the 3rd cartridge slot. Its small format was conceived to make removal difficult, which means that it is not easy to use this 'enhanced' NMS 8245 as a 'normal' NMS 8245.
