Description

The Philips VY-0010 is a single sided 360kB 3.5" floppy disk drive with interface adapter. It supports up to two drives.

It is Identical to the JVC HC-F303 and Sakhr AFD-01, even the ROMs can be swapped. It is possible to upgrade the ROM to support double sided (720kB) media, but this also requires the actual drive to be replaced.

The interface includes a ROM with version 1 of the Disk BASIC instructions. The early VY0010 interface below serial nr 32002639 has one additional call, _getver.

A secondary disk drive (without interface adapter) was available as Philips VY-0011.

It is reported in the Dutch MSX Computer Magazine 07 (page 63) that the drive works in combination with the Sony HBD-50 controller.
